Suffering from alcoholism takes over your whole life.  You can’t be “yourself” either with or without the alcohol anymore – a substance that has such a strong hold over your mind and body.  And when this strong hold becomes a highly dangerous threat to your existence, you experience new anxieties and fears from people who no longer feel welcome in your presence, and those who resist the darkness you exude and continually offer their support, sometimes combined with constructive criticism.  But getting better has to start with you.  If you want it, you can achieve it.  You CAN do it!

They say that admitting you have a problem and seeking help are essential first steps when walking on the path toward recovery.  And with professional help through the chemical dependency program at Monte Nido, Monte Nido Vista, and Rain Rock treatment centers, suffering from an addiction can finally come to an end, and a new way of life can begin.

Monte Nido, Monte Nido Vista, and Rain Rock treatment facilities provide addicts with the care and guidance they need to achieve recovery and lead healthy lives. To find out more about the chemical dependency program at these facilities, visit www.MonteNido.com.

What is Honest Sobriety?

If we call ourselves alcoholic, we are probably saying that our drug of choice is alcohol. Does this mean we can do other drugs as long as we don't drink? We think not. Alcoholism is drug addiction and drug addiction means that mind-affecting chemicals trigger our disease. Of course our disease, the inner addict, will try to tell us this is not so.

Find a list of doctors and treatment clinics who are certified in the treatment of Opioid dependence through Buprenorphine Detox.

buprenorphine

Buprenorphine is an FDA approved opioid addiction treatment. Currently Subutex® & Suboxone® are the only Buprenorphine medications approved by the FDA.

Buprenorphine itself is opioid itself, but the maximal effects are less than other more dangerous opioid agonist like methadone and herion. By producing enough agonist, individuals taking Buprenophine that have become addicted to other opioids are able to discontinue abuse with minimized withdrawl side-effects.

Sober Chick

Sober

Welcome to Sober Chick’s new recovery blog . . . and themsome. I am still constructing the pages and all the nic nacs so please bare with me.

I am a sober member of Alcoholics Anonymous, my sobriety date is June 13th, 2005. I also particpate in the fellowship of Overeaters Anonymous, Al-Anon and SIA (Self Injurers Anonymous). I currenlty am an active bulimic but have so much hope that soon this beast will be tamed once again. It may sound like I am a mess, but trust me that my self destructive behaviors has led me to a path that is fullfilled with experiences unimaginable. "

Sober Conversation - Aaron Duke

Sober Conversation

I am a dedicated father and husband trying to continually grow and learn. I keep myself busy with business and exercise. I try very hard to remain positive and focused so I can create the life I desire for myself and my family. I have been sober since 2/19/86.

I have been clean and sober for 22 years. I graduated from the Rebound Program on Long Island in Boston Harbor in 1987. I try to get back to Rebound as often as I can to tell the kids who are there how I got sober and turned my life around. Whenever I speak to them, I am struck by the feeling that if I could just speak with each kid individually I could do a better job reaching them. This book is how I envision that Sober Conversation.

Eclectic Recovery

Eclectic Recovery

Authentically open-minded. One woman designs her own recovery program with a little help from a lot of friends.

And yet each day I personally feel stronger, more centered, more sober, more playful, more alive and more healthy as I begin to see what really is instead of what I wish were. I still hold the vision of a highest good for all, but I work with what's in front of me. Alcohol makes that impossible. Society needs the addict/alcoholic to be distracted and unaware and without thought except for where the next fix comes from. Because when they start waking up, they can see how things are and they won't settle for it. I won't. Will you?

Mystically Enhanced

Mystically Enhanced

I am a 41 year old mystically enhanced BoHo goth. I love to hug trees, worship dirt, play with kids, and sit in amazement at the joy, sadness, and great amazing journey that is life. I am an honest soul, a sensitive soul, I will not lie to you to save your feelings, if it means that I can save your life.I will not intentionally hurt you with my honesty, nor will I avoid being an honest presence in your life. I can be a difficult person because of my honesty and I can confound those because of my love. I have no idea how I came to this place in life, but I am so grateful to be in this moment, any moment. I follow my own path and I believe that people are inherently good; and I believe in the honesty that lies within all of our hearts, I fall in love much too easily and I am a sensual spirit who loves to be touched and who loves to sit with the spirits of others.

The addictive process is a recognizable psychological and behavioral syndrome that expresses itself in a particular individual in regard to specific substances or processes but which exhibits a striking similarity and commonality among addicted individuals regardless of their specific circumstances and particular addictions.

Zen Buddha & a Lonely Snail - Satheesh Balachandran

Lonely Snail

I'am as lonely as a snail in the still/silent night-desert. There is no one for me to talk to, about many things, so I am putting these lonely words in a hole in a wall and covering it with mud and straw.

What is Alcoholics Anonymous?

"Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism."

The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.
